Mangalore, Oct 31: The leaders of the district youth congress committee on Sunday October 30 held a protest to condemn the ‘Ratha Yatra’ of L K Advani which is scheduled to enter the city on Monday October 31. The protestors laid siege to Yuva the Morcha’s Yuva Jagruthi Ratha that was entering the city and the police intervened to bring the situation under control.
The protest was held in front of the Gandhi statue near Mangalore City Corporation office in Lalbaug.
District Congress president Bantwal MLA Ramanath Rai, addressing the protestors, said that Advani’s Ratha Yatra is a ridicule to the plight of the BJP-led state government and entering the state is strongly opposed by the Congress party. He called upon the people to be aware that corruption had reached its pinnacle in the state due to the BJP.
Leaders Jagannath Shetty Bondala, Ivan D’Souza, Mithun Rai, Praveenchandra Alva, Santhosh Shetty, Siraj, and Stephen led the protest.
