Mangaluru, Jul 2: The students of Srinivas Institute of Technology made a remarkable mark at the recently concluded 25th VTU Inter-Collegiate Athletic Meet held at Chamundi Vihar Stadium, Mysuru, by winning the overall runners-up trophy in the men's category. The talented athletes secured a total of 4 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze medals, showcasing their prowess and determination.
The standout performer, Sanjay Kumar, an MTech (CS) - 2nd year student, clinched gold medals in the 800 meters race, 1500 meters race, and the 4 x 400 meters relay. His outstanding performances earned him individual accolades and contributed significantly to the team's overall success.
Akshay, a BE (Aeronautical) - 2nd year student, also made notable contributions by securing a gold medal in the 4 x 400 meters relay, a silver medal in the 5000 meters race, a silver medal in the 21000 meters race, and a bronze medal in the 10000 meters race.
Another star, Sudeep N Naik, an MBA - 2nd Year student, won a gold medal in the 4 x 400 meters relay and silver medals in the 100 meters race and 200 meters race, further boosting the team's medal tally.
Goutham, a BE (CS & BS) - 2nd Year student, showcased his skill in field events by winning a gold medal in the javelin throw. Additionally, Rishab R Kumar earned a gold medal as part of the 4 x 400 meters relay team, and Riktha Kiran added to the tally with a silver medal in shot put and a bronze medal in discus throw.
The achievements of these students were proudly announced by principal Dr Shrinivasa Mayya D, sports coordinator Dr Dheeraj Hebri, and physical directors Pranam Shetty and Supriya Adiga. Their guidance and support have been instrumental in nurturing the athletes and helping them reach new heights.
