Udupi: Adani Foundation observes 'Go-Red' blood donation drive

Udupi, Jun 25: Adani Group’s Adani Power Limited (APL) – Udupi TPP, observed 'Go-Red' drive, a volunteer blood donation drive, under the banner of Adani Foundation on Jun 24 at its power plant in Yellur village in Udupi district.

The drive conducted to commemorate the birth anniversary of Adani Group’s founder chairman Gautam Adani, was inaugurated by lighting a lamp by Dr Veena, medical officer, District Hospital, Udupi, Dr Palak from District Wenlock Hospital, Mangaluru, and Kishore Alva, president & executive director of Adani in presence of departmental heads of APL.

Inaugurating the Go-Drive event, Kishore Alva spoke and informed that Adani Group’s entities, under the aegis of Adani Foundation, a CSR wing of Adani Group, is organizing blood donation drive across all locations of group’s entities every year and thousands of blood units are being collected and handed over to blood banks at respective locations. He expressed happiness that majority of the employees of APL, Udupi and its allied units are voluntarily participating in the drive every year and exhibiting a sign of social responsibility. He also informed that every year, June 24 is being celebrated as Adani Day.

Later, Dr Veena explained the importance and need of the blood donation to the society. He applauded the efforts of Adani Foundation in organizing the blood donation camp in June month of every year for the last 9 years and donating the blood units to the district hospitals of Mangaluru and Udupi.

The Go-Red drive, which went on for whole day, witnessed collection of 350 units of blood. Kishore Alva thanked all the volunteers for joining hands in the noble cause.
