Udupi, Jun 21: Sri Krishna Math marks 10th International Yoga day with various other activities, on June 21.
A mass yoga practice was held at the Rajangana of Krishna Math, under the leadership of Paryaya Sri Puttige Math. Hundreds of yoga instructors and people from around Udupi participated in the yoga practice session.
Puttige Swamiji, speaking on the occasion said, “In today’s world we are needlessly confused by concepts of equity and equality. But the equality that Krishna proposed in the Bhagavad Gita is extremely practical and relevant.”
Paryaya Puttige Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji, in the backdrop of the Bhagavad Gita, analysed the principles of yoga and said, “Equality does not mean quantitative equality. Equality is the ability. When a mother serves the food she has cooked to the child, the adolescent, the youth and the elderly, in equal proportion, it does not become appropriate. Some may feel half-filled, some may suffer indigestion. If served equally, if she serves it according to their digestive capacity, then their stomach will be satisfied. This is true equity and equality.
“Therefore the teachings of Krishna serve as the most appropriate remedy for both physical and mental ailments of every individual, as well as for the society. Those who can understand this are indeed wise. This is the message of Lord Krishna.”
In the yoga day celebrated at Sri Krishna Math, organised by Patanjali Yoga Trust and Paryaya Puttige Math, Puttige Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji performed pranayama and initiated mass yoga programme. Through this, Swamiji gave a message about the importance of yoga.
On the occasion of yoga day, Pejavara Swamiji, who is on a tour of Telangana, is currently in Securandabad, practiced yoga with his disciples at Poornabodha Vidyapeetha Math. Pejavara Swamiji practices various yoga postures every morning, and can perform various asanas without any difficulty.
