Udupi, Jun 20: Udupi taluk health department has reported one malaria case and 46 dengue cases in Udupi taluk.
During the general meeting held at the Udupi taluk office on June 20, the health department stated, "Under the malaria control programme, blood tests were conducted at 5383 water sources, achieving 115 percent of the target. Last year, Udupi Taluk reported 196 dengue cases, whereas this year the number has reduced to 46 cases. Elephantiasis is now in the elimination stage. Micro-malaria cases are observed among migrant workers, with blood tests conducted on 1268 workers, identifying 12 cases which are currently under treatment."
The health department further reported, "The pentavalent vaccination program has achieved 82 percent coverage out of an expected 476 births this year. Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) and Measles vaccinations have reached 85 percent and 95 percent coverage respectively. Under the Prevention of Blindness program, cataract surgeries were performed on 48 individuals."
The building labour department highlighted their activities for the year, stating, "Two ambulances are operational district-wide, and nutrition kits have been distributed among department members."
Ravindra, administrative officer and deputy director of the land revenue department and food and civil supplies department, instructed the minor irrigation department to inform the Gram Panchayats about lake development activities in their jurisdiction. Discussions included proposals for lake repairs and development in Udupi Taluk.
During the meeting, the social welfare department mentioned, "Hostel facilities, scholarships, and funds for inter-caste marriages are provided. While hostel facilities have been established, technical issues have hindered online applications, prompting manual submissions from SC and ST students. Twenty-five percent of funds are reserved for OBC students, allocated proportionally."
Various other proposals were presented by different departments during the meeting.
Present at the meeting were Vijaya, member secretary and executive officer of taluk panchayat Udupi, Latha, account officer of taluk panchayat, and officials from various departments.
