Udupi, Oct 21: In a complaint filed with Kaup police station, Baptist Monis, resident of Sankarapura of Innanje village, has said that unscrupulous persons had gained access to a cheque sent to him by his son working in Dubai, and encashed the same.
It is gathered that Wilson Ronald, son of Baptist Monis, told his father over phone on September 20, that he had sent a cheque amounting to Rs 90,000 to the latter, and asked his father to encash it on September 23. As the cheque did not reach his family for long, Wilson sent another cheque in place of the earlier one, which was deemed to have been lost in transit.
The second cheque reached the family of Monis on October 17. When Monis presented it and demanded money at the bank, he was told by the bank employees that the earlier cheque issued by Wilson had already been presented to the bank on October 7 by someone who faked the signature of Ronald’s mother, and money had been withdrawn.
On a complaint filed by the beneficiary of the cheque, Kaup police have begun investigation.
