Kasargod, May 11: A special police team under the leadership of Kasargod SP has arrested an accused in a gold chain snatching case. The team was investigating robbery of a gold chain weighing two and half sovereigns from Paivalike Kattadamane resident farmer Gopalakrishna Bhat's neck in broad daylight.
The accused arrested was identified as Mohammed Suhail (32), a resident of Chennadka, Nellikatte, Badiadka. He was arrested from Wayanad. He was an accused in more than 20 cases including theft, robbery and assaults. His accomplice is absconding.

Suhail and another accused who arrived on a bike had snatched the gold chain from Gopalakrishna Bhat's neck on April 27 in the morning and fled. Kumble police had registered a case in this connection. Police had conducted investigations on the basis of CCTV footage. On getting information that the accused is employed in a chicken shop at Wayanad, the accused was arrested.
Police came to know that the accused was involved in several criminal cases in Badiadka, Kumble, Vidyanagar and Kasargod police station limits. Investigations are on. Sub-Inspectors Ansar and Dinesh besides police personnel Arif and Srinesh took part in the operation.
