Mangaluru: Blood donation camp 2024 held at St Aloysius ITI

Mangaluru, May 7: St Aloysius ITI in collaboration with K M C Hospital, Mangaluru organised a blood donation camp on Tuesday, May 7, at 10 am at St Aloysius Industrial Training Institute. Lion SeanA Pujari - president of Lions Club was the chief guest for the programme.

Lion Sivaram, treasurer of the Lions Club; Dr Aman - KMC Hospital; Raviraj an alumni of St Aloysius ITI were present. The president for the programme was Fr John Dsouza S J - director, St Aloysius Industrial Training Institute, Mangaluru.

Roshan Dsouza - principal; Alwyn Menezes - vice principal; Noel Lobo - training officer; N Shashank - president, Student Council; Sushanth - president, Leo Club and staff members of KMC Hospital were present.

The prayer service was led by Wilson N, JTO who also welcomed the gathering.

The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the dignitaries on the dais. Lion Sheena Pujari, chief guest addressed saying that, "We are doing a good service in life. Blood donation is the greatest charity. There is no other charity higher than blood donation. By donating blood, 3 people can be saved. In India, 16,000 people die for want of blood. Blood donors should be healthy and between 18 years to 65 years of age and they should weigh at least 45 kilos. May this blood donation camp be conducted in a good way" he said and wished the students all the best.

Dr Aman said, “By donating blood, your body will get better health. We will be healthy. It takes 1 week for half a litre of blood to be absorbed in the body. You should not do heavy work for a week after donating blood. Blood donors should eat healthy food i.e. green vegetables.”

In his presidential Address, Fr John D'Souza S J said that, “We develop a relationship only when blood is donated. We don't forget the people who donate blood. Also, you will get god's blessings for donating blood." He said and wished the students good luck. As many as 65 members donated blood.
