Mumbai, Oct 13 (IANS): A benchmark index for Indian equities Thursday rose in morning trade to go past the 17,000-mark.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the BSE, opened at 17,048 points and was ruling within minutes at 17,035.17 points, up 76.78 points or 0.45 percent from its previous close at 16,958.39 points.
The Sensex had rallied over 420 points in Wednesday's trade.
The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange was also trading higher, 0.49 percent or 25.2 points up at 5,124.6 points.
Broader markets were also in the green. The BSE midcap index was up 0.38 percent, while the BSE small cap index was ruling 0.41 percent up.
