Beltangady, Mar 29: A pedestrian was tragically killed near Santhekatte after being struck by a bike while crossing the road.

The deceased has been identified as Shekhar Bangera Heraje (65). He was crossing the road in front of the Santhekatte bus stand at 9:30 pm on March 28th. A speeding bike collided with him, resulting in severe injuries. Despite efforts to rush him to Mangaluru for emergency medical care, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away in Bantwal.

Anusha (19), who was riding a scooter, also sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru. The Beltangady traffic police are currently conducting an investigation into the incident.

Shekhar Bangera, the deceased, was a retired employee of Vijaya Bank. He also held positions as the treasurer of the Mugga Guthu family, treasurer of Raghavendra Math, and former vice president of Gurunarayana Sangha. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
