Bengaluru, Mar 27: Tejaswini Gowda, a member of the Karnataka BJP Legislative Council, met Speaker Basavaraj Horatti and tendered her resignation on Wednesday, March 27.
Reports suggest that Tejaswini decided to leave the BJP after missing out on the ticket from the Mysuru-Kodagu constituency. Speculations indicate that her resignation from the MLC post is linked to this development. It appears that Tejaswini opted to exit the party due to the ticket being granted to Yaduveer Wadiyar from the Mysuru-Kodagu Lok Sabha constituency. There are indications that she may consider re-joining the Congress.
Tejaswini, initially a journalist, transitioned into politics and served as a Congress MP. Notably, she defeated former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda from the Kanakapur Lok Sabha (now Bengaluru Rural) constituency in 2004.
Subsequently, she joined the BJP amid shifting political dynamics and dedicated ten years to the party. Her tenure as a member of the Legislative Council was slated to conclude on June 17, 2024.
