Bihar, Feb 18: Utkarsh Gaurav, the son of a farmer from Bhagan Bigha in Nalanda village, Bihar, achieved success in the UPSC examination through self-study, relying on YouTube materials.
Despite his father's desire for him to pursue engineering, Utkarsh, after completing his 12th grade, opted for an engineering degree. His father believed this path would lead to a lucrative job. Utkarsh pursued engineering in Bengaluru, but his quest for a government job took him to Delhi, facing challenges and criticism from his own villagers for not securing a job.
Despite these obstacles, Utkarsh found support from his family when he expressed his ambition to pursue the UPSC examination. He chose a unique path, not enrolling in any coaching class but harnessing online resources, especially from YouTube. Despite facing failure three times, Utkarsh persisted and secured an impressive 709th rank in his fourth attempt.
Gaurav emphasizes the role of luck alongside hard work in conquering challenging exams like the UPSC. His story stands as an inspiring testament to the potential of self-study and the wealth of educational resources available online.
