Mumbai, May 1: Celebrating Maharashtra Day with heartfelt pride and a deep connection to her roots, acclaimed actress Sonali Kulkarni opened up about her personal achievements and her enduring love for her home state. Known for her work in both Marathi and Hindi cinema, Sonali was recently appointed brand ambassador for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC).
Speaking on the occasion, Sonali revealed that she has completed the entire Konkan hiking trail on foot, inspired by her father, an avid hiker who has explored almost every fort in Maharashtra. “My father and I completed the Konkan walking path together. I dream of showing every fort I’ve visited to my family,” she shared.

Paying tribute to International Labour Day, which coincides with Maharashtra Day on May 1, the actress said, “I respect every individual’s labour — be it a makeup artist or production crew. I consider myself a worker too, both in my profession and at home.”
Sonali described Maharashtra as a vibrant land of art, heritage, and diversity, quoting the national pledge to highlight the state's cultural wealth. “Our Marathi language carries a unique rhythm — a ‘naad’ of its own,” she said, expressing deep reverence for Maharashtra’s music, traditions, and folk culture. She also shared her admiration for her mother, a Warkari, who once walked from Anandi to Pandharpur — a pilgrimage Sonali aspires to undertake.
As brand ambassador for MPSC, Sonali will share the role with music maestro Shankar Mahadevan, an honour presented in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, and senior officials including Sujata Saunik and Ashish Shelar.
Reflecting on her new role, she said, “In the Ramayana, a tiny squirrel helped build the bridge to Lanka. I may be small, but I’m doing my part. I feel proud and responsible to serve as a messenger of the government.”
With her passion for heritage, love for language, and devotion to service, Sonali Kulkarni continues to embody the spirit of Maharashtra with pride and purpose.
