Bengaluru, Feb 14: In a startling revelation, a resident of the city has amassed a staggering sum of Rs 3.20 lac in traffic fines due to persistent violations of traffic regulations. The offender, identified as Venkataramana from Sudhamanagara, has been found guilty of flouting traffic rules on his Honda Activa scooter on more than 300 occasions.
Venkataramana, who has been evading law enforcement authorities for an extended period, was finally apprehended by the city's traffic police. His habitual disregard for traffic regulations includes riding without a helmet, driving against the flow of traffic in one-way lanes, and engaging in mobile phone conversations while operating his vehicle.
The Activa Honda scooter has been linked to numerous traffic violations, predominantly occurring in the S R Nagara and Wilson Garden areas.
Upon being confronted by traffic police at his residence, Venkataramana expressed his inability to pay the exorbitant fine accumulated from his repeated infractions. Instead, he offered to surrender his scooter to the authorities. However, the police issued a formal notice demanding payment of the fines, warning of potential legal consequences if the amount remains unpaid.
