Bengaluru, Feb 13: A massive Rs 50,025 crore investment for 241 industrial projects have been approved in the State during the year 2023-24 with additional jobs of 58,051, Industries Minister M B Patil informed the Legislative Council on Tuesday.
Replying to Keshava Prasad of BJP, he said out of the total industrial projects approved by the Single Window Clearance Committee 217 were located outside Bengaluru with barely 24 in the Bengaluru district.
He said the industrial ventures in Bengaluru district have an investment of Rs 21,537 crore with employment creation of 19,243.
However, the projects located outside Bengaluru as part of the State Government’s plans for diversification and decongestion of Bengaluru have a total investment of Rs 28,488 crore and employment potential of 38.808.
Replying to another member S L Boje Gowda (JDS), the minister said barely 5.6 % of the equity holdings in the State-owned Mysore Lamps Ltd., which has been closed down, were held by the private companies. The government will buy the equity holdings from the private sector to ensure that the valuable lands in possession of the company does not go into private hands.
The minister said the government wants to build public interest projects in the lands owned by Mysore Lamps Ltd and New Government Electric Factory (NGEF).
