Moodbidri: Second PUC student hangs himself in college hostel

Moodbidri, Dec 24: In a distressing incident, an 18-year-old student took his own life by hanging in the hostel of a private college in Moodbidri.

The deceased, identified as Manoj, was a second PUC student. Hailing from Tarchihala village in Mundaragi taluk of Gadag district, he was the son of Mallappa.

As the news of the tragic incident spread, the bereaved parents requested that the body not be moved until their arrival. Currently, they harbor doubts about the circumstances leading to Manoj's death. Moodbidri police have registered a case, and an investigation is underway.

Authorities are examining CCTV footage to shed light on the events preceding the unfortunate suicide.

    Dear parents try to keep your children with you till their 12 standard.what is the necessity of sending boy away? Why there is no pu college in gadag?

    Joshua...this is not Doha. May be his parents sent him to Moodbidri for good education which is lacking in Gadag. Why Indians leave India to Gulf or Western countries? For green pastures right. Same case applies here with regard to education.

    @Surendra; it's a big misconception that quality of education is higher here especially in highly publicised private institutions most of which lack even experienced faculty and facilities for practical training etc.😔; majority of these are owned by ghost owners with a decent frontman, the sole aim is of minting money, come what may 💰; rich NRIs are their easiest and biggest catch!!

    Rudolf..I don't agree with you 100%. Mangalore and Udupi district have some very good colleges. There may be few which are money minting but not all. For example: St. Aloysius College Mangalore. They don't run the institution for greed of money. I studied there so I know the reality. This institution really cares for poor and they help poor by various means like subsidized food, fee concession etc....
