258 women poets, writers attend international conference in Amritsar


Amritsar, Dec 5 (IANS): As many as 258 women poets, writers and artists from all over world participated on the second day of the three-day 23rd International Poetess Conference, Punjab 2023 at Khalsa College for Women here on Tuesday.

Padma Shri Surjeet Patar was chief guest during the occasion.

Giving information, convener of conference and known face of Punjabi literary world Simrat Sumaira said the women poets, writers and artists from 12 countries, including two Padma Shri women writers, have been participating.

Among others Padma Usha Tomar, Larry Azad, Roshan, Sukhi Bath, Gurinder Pal Singh Joson, Jaswinder Kaur Sohal, Shalini Dutta, Surinder Kaur, Dalveer Kaur, Varinder Kaur, Pankaj Mahajan, Satinder Kahlon, Satinder Kaur Buttar, Vijayta Bhardwaj, Navjot Chabba and Harsimrat participated.

On the occasion, Punjab Women's Sabha Chairperson Bibi Kushal Bhaura's book 'Dastan-e-Chaman' was released.

The research paper presentation session was chaired by T.M. Geethanjali and Satinder Pannu. It was co-chaired by Sima Baruah, Satinder Kaur Kahlon, Ravinder Kaur, Mamta and Vinay Sharma.

The multilingual 'kavyadhara' was chaired by Kamal Kumari Dash and co-chaired by Jyoti Badami and Sunder Bains.

An open session was chaired by Shailaja Kulkarni and Satinder Kaur Kahlon. It was co-chaired by Sima Baruah and Surinder Kochar. A cultural program was also organised.
