Mangaluru, Oct 14: Srinivas University Institute of Port, Shipping and Logistics Management organised an inaugural program of a series of workshop on “Drug Abuse & Prevention” on October 12 at city campus Pandeshwar.

Chief guest of the program managing director of Kolkata Ventures Avelo Roy inaugurated the program and said when we lack a normal life due to disturbing situations and desire more happiness, addiction may start with the thought, "Let me try it out."

Sometimes, people may ask, "You have everything, yet you're not spending on enjoyment, much like smoking or drinking." But they don't know that I have chosen this; I have the freedom to choose my life, and I am in control of my actions. Bad habits or addictions do not control me; instead, I have an addiction that never leads me down the wrong path.

Fitness Trainer Dr Surjith, Srinivas University vice chancellor Dr P S Aithal, and Srinivas University development registrar Dr Ajay Kumar were present.

Dr Sonia Noronha, dean of the Institute of Port, Shipping, and Logistics Management, extended a warm welcome. Prof Sagar Srinivas, head of the MBA Department, introduced the guest, while prof Nelson Pereira, head of the department for BBA Logistics & Port Shipping and Supply Chain Management, delivered a vote of thanks. The program was compared by prof Shwetha Bhat and prof Akshatha Samson.
