Mumbai, Oct 5: The Jaya C Suvarna-panel led by Suryakant J Suvarna has prevailed in the elections held for the new board of directors for the year 2023-2028 of the prestigious financial multi-state Bharat Cooperative Bank (Mumbai) Ltd.
Billawar Association Mumbai panel led by Harish G Amin, president of Billawara Association and Jaya C Suvarna panels led of Suryakanta Jaya Suvarna, son of former chairman Jaya C Suvarna, and the voters choose Jaya C Suvarna panel.
The election officers brought the ballot boxes with the ballot papers (ballot paper) of the elections held on Monday across the 3 states of the country namely Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka to the Brijwasi Palace Auditorium in Goregaon East and conducted the counting process. Returning Officer A K Chavan opened the ballot boxes in the presence of the candidates and counted the votes in the morning with a team of election officers led by him and gave the results by night.
For a total of 1,79,349 votes, voting arrangements were made in the respective branches of the bank and 113 booths were constructed with around 79 centers. A total of 14,925 votes were cast in all the polling booths. Out of these, 849 votes were invalidated in the general category and 349 in the female category. The returning officer informed that there were 36 contestants for the 17 general seats of the bank and 4 contestants for the 2 women seats and the election was conducted. In the presence of Bharat Bank CEO and managing director Vidyananda S Karkera and joint managing director Dinesh B Salian, A K Chavan announced the total results of the voting and announced the list of winners.
Billawar Association Mumbai panel led by president Harish G Amin contested as sitting director. Amin Lingappa Venkappa (5987), Kotian Purushotama Srinivas (5543), Poojari Narayana Thimma (5805), Poojary Koragappa Buba (5205), Salian Raja Vodi Poojary (5455), Karkera Sarada Suru (5682) from the female position. Anchan Suresh Raghunath (5757), Suvarna Rohit Mohanchandra (5426) who contested as former directors and Amin Navinchandra Raju (5877), Kotian Keshav Kudpa (5723), Kotian Ravi Jarappa (5684), Kunder Harishchandra Gopal (5697), contested as new candidates are Poojary Jaya Vithal (5731),Poojary Riteshkumar Dharmanna (5436), Salyian Anil Babu (5480), Salian Ratnakar Narayan (5474), Suvarna Ravindra Raju (5468), Vijay Kumar Sadanand GP (5102), Anchan Neeta Madhav (5932) the women seat.
Jaya C Suvarna's son Suryakant Suvarna let by Jaya C Suvarna panel who contested in the general category contested as sitting director Amin Somnath Babu (8382), Kotian Jaya Aitappa (8124), Poojary Gangadhar Jarappa (7954), Salian Bhaskar Muddu (7947), Suvarna Suryakanta Jaya (8013), Kotian Ashok Muttappa (8105), Poojari Chandrasekhara Somappa (7878), Poojary Mohandas Giri (7723) who contested as former directors, and Poojari Naresh Krishna (7848), Poojari Niranjan Laxman (7853), Poojari Santosh Kantappa (7793), who contested as new candidates are Poojary Dayananda Raju (7728), Poojary Ganesh Deju (7813), Poojary Harish Vithal (7767), Suvarna Narayana Lokaya (7734), Suvarna Narayana Karnad Venkatappa (7720), Suvarna Suresh Becha (7445), Bangera Asha Rajesh Salian (8691), Jayalakshi Premananda ( 8496) won with following votes.
Independent candidates Dr Bangera Satish Narayan (1175) and Satish Bangera Jagannath (1316) were defeated. The director Anbalagan C Harijan filed his nomination for the post of backward caste and scheduled class and was elected unanimously.
Additional returning officer Sandeep Deshmukh, assistant returning officer Devdas Goswami and assistant returning officer Rohit Krishna Udyavara assisted in the counting process.
Former Karnataka government minister Dr K C Narayan R Gowda arrived and congratulated the Jaya Suvarna team.
