Moodbidri: Gandhi Jayanti celebrated at Carmel School

Moodbidri, Oct 2: A ritualistic programme on Gandhi Jayanti was held on September 21 in remembrance of the Father of the Nation Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. It was organised by grade II A students with great passion and enthusiasm depicting the love and respect to the great legend. This occasion was graced by the presence of chief guest Dr Akshatha Nayak, principal, Sr Maria Gracilda AC, vice- principal Sr Preena AC, administrator Sr Elena AC, coordinators Sr Ranita AC and Sr Rosy AC, play school co-ordinator, Sr Evelyn Marie AC, the parents, teachers and the students.

 

The programme began with an enlightening prayer service followed by lighting the lamp by the dignitaries which symbolised abundance, prosperity and knowledge.

A meaningful skit was presented by the little youngsters on the theme ‘Unity in Diversity’. Prodigious dance was executed by the students which highlighted the importance of the day.

Dr Akshatha Nayak, the chief guest dignified the occasion and emphasised the message on ‘Values of Mahatma Gandhi’. Principal Sr Maria Gracilda AC focused on the importance of the sacrificial life of the Father of the Nation.

The programme was hosted by Jizel and Jenisha. The welcome speech was delivered by Sheza. Arhan and Angel put forth the significance of this day. Tianna proposed the vote of thanks expressing gratitude to each and every one for their participation.

Exciting activities and competitions both indoors and outdoors were conducted for the students.

In honour of this day, the students were involved in 'Shramadhan' instigating in them an awareness on cleanliness drive.
