Mangaluru: Inauguration of Consumer Club & Certificate Course in Consumer Education held

Mangaluru, Sep 30: In addition to the class room teaching, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities play a prominent role in shaping the personality of the students and in preparing them to face the competitive world with confidence. In this context, Government First Grade College, Kavoor provides different opportunities to the students to enhance their learning experience. Certificate Course in Consumer Education is one such opportunity which is conducted by ‘Jagruthi Consumer Club’ in collaboration with D K District Federation of Consumer Organizations ® and D K District Consumer Information Centre, Mangaluru. Besides this, a number of consumer education programmes are being organized under the banner of ‘Jagruthi Consumer Club’. To mark the beginning, the activities of Jagruthi Consumer Club and the Certificate Course in Consumer Educationfor the Academic Year 2023-24, were inaugurated on September 25 by Dr Ashalatha Suvarna, principal, Sri Gokarnatheshwara College, Mangaluru.

In her inaugural speech, Dr Ashalatha Suvarna explained the various rights of consumers and also emphasized on the responsibilities of the consumers. She explained the famous jargon ‘Caveat Emptor’ (Buyer Beware) with number of examples.

Dr Therese Pereira, the IQAC and staff coordinator of the Consumer Club gave a prelude about the certificate course.

The formal programme was presided by the principal Dr Shivarama P.who suggested the students to involve themselves in the activities of the Consumer Club with heart and soul.

Dr Geetha M L, HOD of commerce & management, Dr Santhosh Pinto, student welfare officer and Jyothi Shetty, co-coordinator of IQAC and Consumer Club were present on the stage.

Chaithra of III BBA compeered the programme, student coordinator Deeksha of III BBA welcomed the gathering and student co-coordinator Sneha of III B Com proposed vote of thanks.
