Udupi: Mount Rosary English medium school holds 'Swacchatha he seva' programme

Media Release:

Udupi, Sep 30: “The planet with a diverse ecosystem is Earth. The Creator has created all living beings for the welfare of the Earth in collaboration with humans. One organism complements another. Unlike humans, another organism does not harm the natural balance. We should use our intelligence as a means of environmental friendship, not as a means of environmental harm,” said Joseph Rebello, state level resource person.

He delivered a special lecture as part of the 'Swacchatha he seva' programme at Mount Rosary English medium School, Kallianpur. The programme was organized in joint venture of the rural drinking water and sanitation department, rural development, and the panchayat raj department, under the guidance of Udupi zilla panchayat, as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission.

Dr Rock D'Souza, parish priest of Mount Rosary Church, who inaugurated the programme, emphasized that our body and mind should be clean. "When it is pure and clean, the cleanliness around us becomes natural. It is not enough to just call Mother Earth 'Mother'; we must also take care of her as a mother," he said.

Nagaraj, the president of the Kallianpur gram panchayat, who presided over the meeting, praised the Mount Rosary Educational Institution as a source of pride of village. He called on students to spread the message of cleanliness in every home.

Student Aditi Aithal delivered a speech on 'Cleanliness is Service'. Students performed dance depicting the importance of cleanliness through environmental songs. On the stage, the former president of the panchayat, Sateesh Naik, vice president, Premalatha were present.

Sr Ancilla D’mello, headmistress welcomed the gathering.
