Mangaluru: St Agnes CBSE School celebrates Grandparents’ Day

Mangaluru, Sep 29: Grandparents are a great blessing to each and everyone. Their selfless love and affection they bestow on their children and grandchildren is immeasurable. They are also the unseen heroes who are always with the family to guide,support and nurture everyone.

To give a tribute to their great work, and to commemorate the birth of venerable Mother Veronica, St Agnes School CBSE celebrated the Grandparents’ Day on September 27 at Block II Hall. The grandparents were given a grandeur welcome with roses and were escorted to the hall.


 

 

 

The programme began with invoking God’s blessings through the prayer service. The grandparents placed the lamps symbolising peace and love with hands that were displayed. A traditional welcome was given to the grandparents with the students welcoming them with different languages followed by a dance. A meaningful skit on the reality of life of a grandparent was put forth by students. To lighten the mood and take the grandparents to their flashback a retro dance was presented by the students. The teachers performed the Mad Ad that set a relaxed mood to the grandparents. Several games were conducted by teachers Keerthi and Priya and the winners were awarded with prizes.

The chief guest, Dr Rouchelle Tellis, professor and head of clinical microbiology, Yenepoya University conducted a short session on health benefits to grandparents. She encouraged the grandparents to be healthy and fit with a good diet and always be happy and spend time doing the things that they like the most. She shared some tips about fitness and a balanced diet. She thanked the principal and staff for inviting her to witness the programme and congratulated the students and teachers for the heart-warming performance.

The grandparents expressed their joy and thanked the principal and staff for inviting them and making their day a memorable one.

The winners of the basketball tournament, the winners in Konkani Natak Sabha fancy dress and elocution competition were honoured at this juncture.

The programme was compered by Manisha and Priya. Violet welcomed and introduced the chief guest. Vijetha proposed the vote of thanks expressing gratitude for the wonderful response and participation by the grandparents. A token of appreciation was presented to the grandparents and at the end the best moments were captured in one frame.
