Kuwait, Sep 3: The Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA) held its general body meeting on Friday, September 1 at Indian School of Excellence, Salmiya. The meeting commenced at 6:30 PM with the opening prayer led by Reyan Lobo.
President Naveen Valerian Mascarenhas heartily welcomed the gathering and expressed his gratitude to all members for their love, support, and encouragement. In his message, he expressed gratitude towards the members for their support to KCWA's, "Each One Teach One" campaign. He also requested everyone’s support to KCWA's upcoming event Monthi Fest 2023 and invited members with their families to attend Monthi Fest Novem lunch which will be held on September 8.
Various reports were presented and approved by the members present. Reena Pereira presented the minutes of last extra-ordinary GBM and Deepak Andrade presented the activity report. Finance, membership and education fund reports were presented by Jayson D'Souza, Sylvia D'Costa and Veena Serrao respectively.
The cultural and sports activity reports were presented by Johnson Almeida and Prakash Pinto respectively, whilst they updated the upcoming events. Website and social media updates were presented by Allan D'Souza.
Monthi fest coordinator Praveen Fernandes briefed about the KCWA Monthi Fest celebration and Novem Jevan for KCWA members and their families to be held on September 8 at Indian Public School. He read the donors’ names and thanked them for the wholehearted support which makes KCWA possible to provide traditional festive meals to 18 shelter homes within Mangaluru and Udupi Diocese.
Farewell was arranged to the spiritual director of KCWA, Fr Noel DAlmeida OFM Cap, who is transferred to India for his next assignment. He was honored for his continuous support and guidance to the association for the past 10 years. Maan Patr was read and presented by the president Naveen Mascarenhas and flowers, mementos, shawl by the executive committee members and the former presidents. On his farewell note he lauded the charity works of KCWA. He requested all Mangalorean Catholics to become a member of KCWA. Visiting priest Fr Roshan Rosario OFM. Cap director, St Anthony Institutions, Bengaluru also took part & joined KCWA in honoring our spiritual director.
On this occasion, celebrated birthday of KCWA committee member Alban DSouza, along with Ruth Clara Veigas, Jayson D'Souza and Vanessa Santhumayor who also celebrated their birthday in same week by cutting delicious cake.
Sylvia D'Costa, Jinella Rodrigues and Manoj Rego conducted the lucky draw for the members present at the venue before the beginning of the meeting. Kevin Preetam DSouza #2784 emerged as the lucky winner.
Winners of Travelogue Contest 2023 were also announced. KCWA Travelogue was conducted for its members’ children during the summer holidays. Travelogue main coordinator Jayson D'Souza announced winners names and expressed gratitude towards Judges of this competition Fr Joseph Cyril D'Souza and Arun D’Almeida.

KCWA congratulated all the winners and the participants for their active participation. The competition was well coordinated by Jayson D'Souza and Sylvia D'Costa.
Kevin D'Souza proposed a vote of thanks. Vice president, Arun Jossy D'Souza was the moderator. Alban D'Souza captured the event through his skills in photography. Projector was provided by Alban D'Souza and Allan D'Souza animated the presentation. Sound system was provided by Roshan Rodrigues. Dinner was served by China Metr o Restaurant, Farwaniya. Around 135 members with their families were present. Fr Roshan Rosario recited grace before meal. Delicious dinner was served to all present at the GBM.
KCWA Managing Committee expressed gratitude to the members for attending the GBM and for sharing their valuable thoughts and constructive suggestions and also the management of Indian School of Excellence, Salmiya for providing the venue to hold the meeting.
