840 Tonnes of Drug-making Chemicals Seized in Mexico

Mexico City, Jul 23 (IANS/EFE): Around 840 tonnes of drug-making chemicals have been seized in Mexico, in one of the largest seizures in the country's history, the Defence Secretariat said.

Troops found the chemicals at a warehouse in the central city of Queretaro.

The chemicals are used to make synthetic drugs such as crystal meth.

No arrests have been made in this connection.

This confiscation topped the previous record of 200 tons of chemicals seized almost a year ago in the Pacific port of Manzanillo.

Mexico produces most of the crystal meth consumed in the US, according to a report.
