Mangaluru: World No Tobacco Day programme held by A B Shetty dental students

Mangaluru, Jun 6: The department of oral & maxillofacial pathology and oral microbiology of A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences Nitte (Deemed to be University) In association with District Tobacco Control Cell, presented a street play to create awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco among the general public on the occasion of ‘World No Tobacco day’ on May 31 at KSRTC Bus Stand, Lalbagh.

The chief guest for the event was Dr Shivasharan Shetty, Dental Council of India member, senate member of RGUHS, member of Karnataka State Dental Council, vice president, Indian Dental Association, head office and guest of honour was Dr Jagadeesh K, district survelilance officer/programme officer, District Tobacco Control Cell (DK). 

The inaugural programme started with a welcome dance by students and the college president Sreesha briefed the public on the purpose of this day. Welcome address by Prof (Dr) Sreelatha S V, HOD, oral and maxillofacial pathology, followed by an address by chief guest and guest of honour. Principal and dean Prof (Dr) U S Krishna Nayak presided over the function. Dr Preethesh Shetty was the programme coordinator. The department faculty were also present for the programme.

The event's main attraction was a street play by students in the third year BDS who performed enthusiastically. The inaugural programme concluded with a vote of thanks.

Street play was well appreciated by all people at the bus stand.
