Bantwal, May 29: MLA Rajesh Naik held a meeting of PDOs of Bantwal, grama panchayat presidents and various officials on Monday.
He directed them to be prepared for the ensuing monsoon and ensure that there is sufficient supply of drinking water while also being in touch with people without switching off their mobile phones. He took to task officials who gave evasive replies.
The BEOs and CDOs said that there will be drinking water woes at 40 Anganwadi centres and 64 schools if the current situation continues. The MLA said that he will be speaking to the DC if the resumption of Anganwadi schools can be postponed.
While BEO said that work on monsoon damages had not been taken up at 22 schools, CDPO said that 12 buildings were in a dilapidated condition. BA said that the water tank at Uppugudde was about to collapse.
The MLA said the sludge and shrubs should be removed by the municipal council at Panemangalore military ground to prevent flooding of low lying areas that are prone to floods every year.
Grama panchayat presidents and vice-presidents explained their issues.
