Mangalore, Jul 2: Compared to the last couple of days, monsoon turned stronger on Friday Jul 1. Although almost all the places in the coastal belt received some rains, heavy rains were received at isolated places.
Subrahmanya and Sullia in Dakshina Kannada district got heavy rains on Friday. In addition to Mangalore, Bantwal, Puttur and Beltangady taluks too got good rains. Some places in Uttara Kannada district received seven cms of rain, while other places on the coast got between two and five cms of rain.
There have been some reports about losses inflicted on houses in villages like Moodukukke near Haradi, Udupi taluk, and Nandikur Adve near Padubidri, in the form of collapsed walls.
The meteorological department has predicted heavy rains during the next two days in most places of Karnataka coast and some places in the hinterland.
