Mangalore, Jun 29: The world today has become a global village. The staff and students of Mount Carmel Central School, Mary Hill, here on Monday June 27 witnessed this at the visit of Helen Bullock and Chris Ward from Green Bank C P School, Rochdale, UK.
They are on a visit to the school for about a week interacting with the staff and students establishing educational bonds between the two schools under the scheme ‘Global School Partnership’ sponsored by British Council. This partnership programme includes involvement of both the schools in undertaking two joint curriculum projects such as festivals and related dances of UK and India and taking care of the environment – conserving water and plant life
The typical Indian welcome - Poornakumbha Swagatham and the variety of dances depicting Indian culture made the guests marvel at the unity in diversity existing in India.
Apart from the cultural programme, the students presented their projects on the above themes through power point presentations and exhibitions in their respective classrooms.
The school is highly appreciative of the involvement of the parents in these projects. The guests too shared useful information about their school and their culture through a video clipping. Their visit helped the students of Mount Carmel Central School Mary Hill, here to appreciate other cultures while valuing their own and also help the staff and students of the respective schools to strengthen their bonds and work at the above projects during the coming three years.
