Bantwal, Jun 30: Bharat Nirman Rajeev Gandhi Seva Kendra that was constructed under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme by Sangabettu gram panchayat and the newly-built panchayat office were inaugurated here on Wednesday June 29.
Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat president K T Shailaja Bhat inaugurated the two buildings of Sangabettu gram panchayat here.
Bhat, in her inaugural address, urged the village council and department officers to put their efforts into availing the benefits under the National Employment Guarantee Scheme to eligible beneficiaries.
MLA B Ramanath Rai, in his presidential address, urged the heads of all village councils in the taluk to follow the role model of Sangabettu gram panchayat in building Seva Kendras under their jurisdictions.
Taluk panchayat president Shailaja P Shetty, vice-president Dinesh Amtoor, steering committee president Madhav Mave, zilla panchayat members Nalini B Shetty and Revati R Poojary, zilla panchayat acting CEO K Shivarame Gowda, taluk panchayat CEO Vasantaraj Shetty, zilla panchayat assistant executive engineer M Shivamurti, Sangabettu gram panchayat vice-president Devappa Karkera, and secretary Muralidar were present on the occasion.
Sangabettu gram panchayat president Prabhakar Prabhu welcomed the gathering. Development officer Nagesh M proposed the vote of thanks. H K Nayanadu compered the programme.
