Karkala, Jun 30: Renowned Kannada humour litterateur H Gopal Bhat, with the pen name Ku Go, will be honoured at his residence on Friday July 1 by Udupi district unit of Bangalore-based Patrakartara Vedike in association with the School of Journalism, Moodbidri.
Veteran journalist Dr Raghav Nambiar will felicitate Ku Go with the ‘Journalism Day Award’ on Friday.
The Vedike has felicitated veteran litterateurs Ambatanaya Mudrady and Vidwan Chandrayya Umesh Rao Yekkar, amongst others with the Award in the past.
Ku Go has been supporting budding litterateurs all his life. His articles are being published in print and e-media. He has also authored short stories including ‘Maduve’, ‘Shani Hididava’, ‘Yettanendetta’, ‘Telnota’, ‘Lolalolayi’, ‘Patapataki’.
Ku Go has bagged several awards including ‘Goroor Literary Award’, ‘Paramanand Award’, ‘New Delhi Kannadiga Award’, ‘Ugrana Award’, ‘Suma Souraba Award’, ‘Aparanji Trust Award’, ‘Rajata Pustak Award’, and ‘Hasya Loka Award’.
Seventy-four-year-old Ku Go was born in Herga near Manipal in Udupi district. He was employed in LIC and took VRS to serve full time in the literary sphere. He is the founder of the laughter club ‘Suhasam’ in Udupi city.
He is married to Shubhavati and the couple has three children. They are settled in Hayagreeva Nagar – Vagdevi.
