Mangaluru: 'World Autism Day’ 2023' observed at Srinivas University

Mangaluru, Apr 5: With the blessings of A Shama Rao, founder of Srinivas University and under the guidance of Dr CA A Raghavendra Rao, chancellor of Srinivas University, and Dr A Srinivas Rao, pro Chancellor of Srinivas University, Mangaluru, World Autism Day’ 2023 followed by the theme “Light It Up Blue” given by World Health Organisation (WHO) was observed on April 4, by the department of Clinical Psychology, in Seminar Hall , Srinivas University, Mukka.


The eminent chief guest for the day was Dr Mithun S, MD Psychiatrist, Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences & Research centre and prof Naveen Bappanadu, course co-ordinator, Medical Laboratory Technology, IAHS, was the guest of honour for the programme.

Prof Priyadhersini S, course co-ordinator, dept of Clinical Psychology, IAHS has shared the stage with the dignitaries.

The programme started with a prayer followed by lamp lighting ceremony by the dignitaries. The chief guest Dr Mithun S, MD Psychiatrist, addressed the gathering by enriching the knowledge on Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and the importance of handling ASD as well, creating awareness to manage the people with ASD and the caretakers of everyday life.

The department had organised a short movie making competition on ASD as a part of creating awareness. The movies made by the BSc Clinical psychology students were displayed and the best movies were judged & awarded by the chief guest Dr Mitun S. The progamme was attended by various department students and faculties of Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Srinivas University.

The programme was organised by the course coordinator Priyadhersini S, department of Clinical Psychology, and the faculties Harshitha D, Asha N, Akshatha and Nisha K R.
