Mangalore, Jun 29: Former minister and Congress leader from Shimoga district, Kagodu Timmappa, called upon the party activists to wholeheartedly implement the awareness programme launched by the party to make people understand its achievements, and work to provide social justice to deprived classes of people.
He was addressing a meeting organized at the district office of the party here on Tuesday June 28. The meeting was presided over by Dakshina Kannada district president of the party and MLA, B Ramanath Rai.
“Chief Minister (CM), Yeddyurappa, and former CM, Kumaraswamy, need not have come all the way to Dharmasthala to pray to the Lord. They could have offered prayers from where they were. Yeddyurappa is concentrating only on the development of his home constituency, Shikaripur. Kumaraswamy has grabbed 20,000 acres of land in Ramanagar and 12,000 acres in Hoskote. He has built apartments there. When Deve Gowda was the Prime Minister, his only aim was to develop Hassan,” Timmappa alleged.
He exhorted the party activists to understand the problems of the rural people, vibe with their feelings, and win over their hearts. He wanted booth level leadership to be strenghthened, to identify misuse of money by the officials, and to ensure proper use of government funds.
In his address, Ramanath Rai charged the BJP of cheating the people in the name of religion, and indulging in politics of money.
Party MLAs, Abhaya Chandra Jain and U T Khader, leaders, Vinayakumar Sorake, Vijayakumar Shaetty, Ivan D’Souza, Mamata Gatty, Shashidhar Hegde, Suresh Ballal, Shalet pinto, Gafoor, and many others were present.
