Bangalore: KSRTC Fare Hiked by 7 Percent

Bangalore, Jun 26: The state government has decided to raise Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus fares by 7 percent, following centre's announcement of hike in diesel prices.

The fare will be hiked in four bus services including KSRTC, north-east, north-west and BMTC.

According to sources the measure is taken in order to compensate the loss incurred due to increase in fuel prices.

Transport minister R Ashok and officers convened a day-long meeting on Saturday June 25 to discuss the loss due to the hike in fuel price and the required hike in bus fares. The officers proposed to increase the fare by 8-10 percent but was fixed to seven percent after dicussions with the chief minister.
