Mangaluru, Mar 18: LCS Colloquium 2023 was held on March 18 at Bejai church hall. The occasion was graced by Dr John Baptist Saldanha, the manager of LCS, the chief guest Dr Praveen John, professor of Radiodiagnosis, A J Institute of Medical Sciences, Fr Robert D’Souza, the principal, Belita Mascarenhas and Anita Thomas, the vice principals; Fr Suraj Lobo and Fr Jason Pais,assistant parish priests.
The programme commenced with the welcome dance performed by students of class X followed by the prayer song by the school choir. Sujith of class XII welcomed the gathering. The thematic skit ‘Dream Big and Aim High’ was performed by the students of class XII.
The principal Fr Robert D'Souza delivered his keynote address and introduced the guest speaker Dr Praveen John, parent of Nidhi Sarah John of class X A. He said LCS has completed twenty four glorious years, a milestone built with trust. The progress of students’ curricular and co-curricular development has been fulfilled by dedicated teachers and motivated students. LCS Colloquium provides a platform for parents, teachers and students to come together for the holistic development of the children. Honouring and appreciating toppers will encourage achieving their goals and disciplining their behaviour. The chief guest was felicitated by the manager rev. Dr John Baptist Saldanha and other dignitaries.
The chief guest Dr Praveen John addressed the gathering and told motivational stories to encourage the students. Students were encouraged to develop positive attitude, maintain perfect balance between curricular and extracurricular activities to prepare for the board exams. He urged the students to make a conscious effort to reach their goal, and use their talents to add value to the world. He advised the parents to listen, encourage, be their best friend and not to be over-protective. He gave tips to work hard, to be disciplined, not to compare themselves with others and manage their time effectively.
The toppers of class IX and XI were felicitated for their excellent performance in academics and 100% attendance in the academic year 2022-23. Rev Dr John Baptist Saldanha, the manager delivered the presidential address and stated that parents should sacrifice their time for their children and family, and give them healthy food. He told the students to wake up early and begin the day with God’s blessings. He also added that a graduation ceremony would be held for the outgoing students of class X and class XII in a new way.
Jovila Rodrigues of class X proposed the vote of thanks. The programme ended with the singing of the national anthem. Prachi and Dion of class X compered the programme.
