Mangaluru: MSNIM holds MSN Dialogue Series

Media Release

Mangaluru, Feb 26: The Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management (MSNIM) organized a conversation with Ratheesh R, general manager, Union Bank of India, as a part of its popular MSN Dialogue Series on Friday, February 24 at 3 pm at the institute campus in Bondel here.

Ashwini Baliga, former manager (credit), Corporation Bank, was the second guest. Students and faculty of the institute attended the programme. The institute mentor and former RBI deputy governor of Vittaldas Leeladhar participated in the dialogue with Ratheesh and Ashwini Baliga. He introduced both guests to the audience. They too added to the conversation by tracing their respective life journeys and sharing what makes them tick.

The MSN Dialogue Series is a series of interactive events with corporate leaders and achievers hosted in a question-and-answer format to enable students to gain personal insights into corporate leadership. This knowledge endeavour is named after the institution’s founder president, Manel Srinivas Nayak.

Responding to the questions posed by Leeladhar, Ratheesh R opined that more than one’s educational or family background, it is the quality of being a good learner and a hard worker that enables one to succeed in life.

He also emphasised the need for teamwork. "One person cannot do everything; teamwork is the key. Don’t be a loner; be a team player. Move out of your comfort zone and become a master of the one field that interests you the most by acquiring complete knowledge," he advised, adding that taking guidance from the right people helps one go a long way.

He also observed that there is nothing wrong with changing careers if it helps one reach the pinnacle of success in one's career. Ratheesh shared his passion for singing and regaled the audience by singing a Malayalam song for them.

Ashwini Baliga attributed her success to a positive ‘I can do’ attitude and to the support given to her by her family. "I was the first woman to be posted in the corporate advances department. This department was dominated by men and was known for working late hours. But my family endured and supported me," she said. She advised students to have integrity, perform their duties honestly, stick to their work ethics, and be loyal.

Manel Annappa Nayak, president, WNES, the institute correspondent Jeevandas Narayan (former managing director, State Bank of Travancore and presently independent director, Karnataka Bank), Raghava Kamath, member of the governing body, MSNIM, and the institute director, Dr Molly S Chaudhuri, were present.

Arpitha Nayak welcomed the gathering. Preetha and Jyothi led to the invocation. Lenisha compered the programme. Institute director Dr Molly S Chaudhuri gave the vote of thanks.
