Kasaragod, Feb 23: A gang brandished a revolver and drove away two lorries at Miyapadavu on Wednesday, February 22 in the evening. Police have arrested four accused in this connection.
A pistol, four live bullets and a car were confiscated by the police from the arrested persons. The gang was demanding hafta at Miyapadavu at about 6 pm on Wednesday. They brandished a pistol, threatened and forced the drivers to get down from the lorry, robbed them of mobile and cash and drove away the lorries.
Manjeshwar police, who were alerted, chased the accused. They left the lorries near Paivalike Kommangala and were running away when the police arrested two of them. The police later confiscated the car and arrested two other accused from it.
The arrested were Maharashtra Nasik resident Rakesh Kishore (25), Sonkal resident Hyder Ali (22), Paivalike Kalai resident Sayaf (22) and Miyapadavu resident Mohammed Safwan(23).
Police sources said two others including Miyapadavu resident Abdul Rahim have fled.
“The robbery was conducted by the accused under the leadership of Miyapadavu resident Abdul Rahim who was involved in more than 25 cases and was imprisoned on the basis of Kafa Act and later released,” said the police.
