Mangaluru, Feb 19: Sir M Vishweshwariah terminal, Bengaluru-Mangaluru express train (number 16585/86) that runs between Bengaluru and Mangaluru will be extended till Murudeshwar very soon.
A proposal in this regard has been sent to the Railway Board and the board in all probability is going to accept this soon.
Earlier, Sangolli Rayanna Express used to run three times a week from Bengaluru to Karwar. However, in order to run Bengaluru-Karwar Panchaganga Express train on all the seven days of the week, the Sangolli Rayanna Express was cancelled.
Member of Parliament for Mysuru, Prathap Simha, who came to know about this, appealed to the railway minister to run a train to Karwar and Kannur via Mysuru and Mangaluru from Bengaluru. He urged the minister to extend the Bengaluru-Mangaluru Central train to Karwar for four days of the week. Now the same train has been extended till Murudeshwar from Mangaluru Central railway station instead of Padil junction.
Though this train gets extended to Murudeshwar, there will be no change in the train departure and arrival timings between Bengaluru and Mangaluru. The train will leave Bengaluru at 8.15 pm and reach Mysuru at 11.30 pm. The train will then leave Mysuru at 11.40 pm and reach Mangaluru Central on the following day at 8.55 am. The train will depart from Mangaluru at 9.20 am and reach Murudeshwar at 1.20 pm.
From Murudeshwar, the train will depart at 1.55 pm and reach Mangaluru at 6.15 pm. It will then leave Mangaluru Central at 6.35 pm and reach Mysuru at 3 am on the following day. From Mysuru it will leave at 3.15 am and reach Bengaluru at 7.15 am.
