Mangalore, Jun 10: The police have succeeded in nailing down the suspect in a mobile phone burglary case that took place on May 19 at a house near Sridevee College, Ballalbagh.
The suspect Guru Kiran alias Kicchu (20) a resident of Ullal was taken into custody. Three mobile phones, driving licence, pan cards and credit cards were confiscated. He also had Rs 26,000 cash with him.
Owner of the house Niraj Kumar Singh was out of town on the day of the theft. Along with three mobile phones and a credit card, a sum of Rs 2,000 was stolen from his house. The police received a complaint regarding the theft on Tuesday June 7.
On receiving information that a person was trying to sell mobile phones at a shop in Saibeen Complex on Wednesday June 8, police team led by ASI H M Muttu and Shiva Prakash arrested Kiran.
Investigations are on and police suspect he had an accomplice in the crime. Constables Mohandas, Santosh Sasihitlu, Satish M K and Pradeep Rai were part of the investigating team. The accused was presented in the court on Thursday June 9.
