Chikmagalur, Jun 8: Yakshagana is one of the top art-form in the world. It has the cultural significance that is rich in text, music and dance, said Chidambar Rao Jambe, veteran theatre director and former director of Rangayana.
He was delivering keynote address at the week-long Yakshagana artistes’ rejuvenation camp for the professionals of Tenku – Badagutittu Yakshagana form at Horanadu, near here on Sunday June 5.
Bheemeshwar Joshi, religious leader of Annapoorneshwari temple, Horanadu inaugurated the programme.
Veteran yakshagana artiste K Govind Bhat and Yakshagana Kalaranga president Tallur Shivaram Shetty was the chief guests of the occasion.
The resource persons, Bannanje Sanjeev Suvarna and Kargallu Vishveshvar Bhat were present on the dais.
Karnataka Yakshagana Academy president Kumble Sundar Rao welcomed the gathering. Murali Kadekar compered the programme. Academy member C P Atikari proposed the vote of thanks.
In all 50 youth artistes are participating in the weeklong rejuvenation camp.
The camp participants will be trained in Kuchipudi, drama, cinema and Bharatanatyam by experts at the camp.
