Mangalore, Jun 7: The Kulshekar unit of the Catholic Sabha distributed free umbrellas to about 75 underprivileged students at St Joseph Higher Primary School here on Tuesday June 7.
Victor Vaz, the president of the unit presided over the programme and distributed umbrellas as well.
Speaking on the occasion he said that the sabha wanted to lend a helping hand to students during the monsoons. He called upon the students to inculcate good values in order to become respectable citizens of the country.
Head teacher Sr Norma, who also spoke on the occasion said that children should learn to respect their elders and the school where foundation was being led for their bright future through education.
She thanked the Catholic Sabha for their good work and expressed confidence that they would continue with their endeavours. She asked the children to read the life stories of great leaders and imbibe their values.
Alumni president Susheel Noronha also addressed the gathering.
Catholic Sabha secretary Paulin D’Souza, treasurer Leo Mascarenhas, and working committee members and teaching staff among others were present on the occasion.
