Beltangady, Jun 5: The endosulphan victims of Dakshina Kannada district are continuing their effort to get justice from the government. As a part of it, hundreds of victims of endosulphan chemical in the taluk have planned Vidhanasoudha Chalo on Thursday June 23 to put pressure on government to give them each Rs 5 lac compensation and permanent shelter in Kokkada.
Sridhar Gowda, president of Anti-endosulphan protest committee informed this during a protest on Saturday June 4 at the taluk Varta Bhavann. Gowda also said that the government should convert the day care centre of Kokkada into a permanent rehabilitation centre. It should provide free scanning and treatment facilities for pregnant women, he said.
Member of anti-endosulphan protest committee Kushalappa Gowda was also present.
In Dakshina Kannada district, almost 92 villages have been affected by endosulphan and around 5,000 people are suffering from the effects of the pesticide.
