Mangalore, Jun 1: Fr Melwyn Noronha the new assistant parish priest of Holy Cross Church, Cordel Kulshekar, was given a warm welcome as he was received by Fr Valerian Pinto, parish priest, Holy Cross Church, Cordel Kulshekar on Tuesday May 31.
Praveen Patrao, vice-president, Holy Cross Church, Cordel Kulshekar welcomed the gathering. George D`Souza, secretary, Holy Cross Church, Cordel Kulshekar, Sushil Noronha, Stany D`Souza and Edward Monteiro, welcomed the guests.
Fr John Baptist Moras, assiatnt parish priest, Kulshekar Chuch conducted the spiritual rites in the church.
In his speech Fr Valerian Pinto, gave a clear picture of the various activities of Kulshekar Church to the gathering. Fr Pinto said that Kulshekar Church is one of the biggest churches of Mangalore Diocese and Fr Noronha has to play an important role in the Centenary Year of the Church - 2012.
Fr Baptist Menezes, Episcopal Vicar in his speech said that for every priest his home is his current church where he serving the laity. He called upon Cordelites to pray for Fr Noronha, for his fruitful ministry. Fr Mathew Vas was nostalgic and he remembered his ministry which he had done 22 years ago in Kulshekar church. He said people of Kulshekar are God fearing, kind and very generous.
Melwyn Noronha thanked all the parishioners who had come from Udupi, Kinnigoly and Taccode to give him a grand farewell. He asked them to pray for him.
Arun Wilson Lobo, assistant parish priest of Kulshekar compered the programme.
