Mangalore, May 31: NCC of 18 Karnataka Battalion here organized a drawing competition for the NCC cadets at Canara School on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day on Tuesday May 31. As many as 50 NCC cadets took part in the competition.
NCC in-charge of Canara School Ramananda K V, NCC officers Monappa, Vijay Singh, Madan Singh among others were present. Later a rally was taken out from the school to Mangalore City Corporation via PVS circle.
Also, cadets of NCC of 6 Kar Air Sqn here took out a rally to raise awareness against tobacco consumption from Valencia circle at 10.30 am.
In another no tobacco programme organized jointly by Indian Dental Association, A J Institute of Dental Sciences and D K District Auto Rickshaw Drivers Association, Ivan D’Souza, president of Auto Rickshaw Association was the chief guest. Dr Shubham Alva, president, Indian Dental Association, Dr Jithesh, Dr Murali, Dr Sanjay Nayak among others were present.
A free dental check up camp was also organized by A J Institute of Dental Sciences in which as many as 70 people took part.
Students of A B Shetty Memorial College staged a street play at the central market to create awareness about the adverse effects of consuming tobacco.
