Mangalore, May 29: Canara Bank has registered a net profit of Rs 899 crore in the fourth quarter of 2010 – 11, informed Archana S Bhargav, executive director of the Bank at a press conference held on Saturday May 28.
She said the bank has handled Rs 5 lac crore worth of transactions, which is a milestone in its history.
The Bank has consistently witnessed improvements in its transaction and plans to open 200 new ATMs. Three new ATMs will come up in the city, and in case there is a demand for more, it will be considered, she added.
The total business transaction has increased by 25.4 %.
In order to make banking experience convenient for rural people, smart cards have been introduced and already 200 of them have been distributed. In the next financial year 100 new rural branches will be opened, Bhargav said.
