Mangalore, May 25: The solemn Profession of Sr Elizabeth of the Trinity was held at Cloistered Carmels Sacred Heart Convent, Kankanady, on Wednesday May 25.
Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza of Mangalore concelebrated the Holy Mass along with Carmelite Provincial Superior of Goa and Karnataka Fr Archibald Gonsalves, Mangalore diocesan chancellor Fr Henry Sequeira, Rishivana director Carmelite priests Fr John Sequeira, Fr Rudolph Pinto, Fr Walter D’Souza, Fr Barnabas, Fr Sylvester,Fr Steven Pinto and Fr Deepu Fernandes, Valencia parish priest Fr Bonaventure Nazareth, and Jeppu St Joseph’s Seminary professor Joachim Fernandes on the occasion.
Fr Gonsalves delivered a meaningful homily meditating on the mysteries of divine calling. Fr Steven Pinto conducted the liturgical service.
Convent superior Sr Mary Celine thanked the clergies, congregation, and the family members of Sr Elizabeth of the Trinity.
Sr Elizabeth’s baptismal name is Marina Reena Concepta Monteiro, daughter of John Diag Monteiro and Emelda Sequiera, the parishioners of Paldane. She is the youngest among five children of the Monteiro family. The divine call came to Sr Elizabeth during her early schooling at St Ann’s Convent, Kelarai. She joined the Cloistered Carmel for initiation on August 1, 2002, to live with them and confirmed her vocation on March 1, 2003. Her vestation was held on February 11, 2004, and first profession on July 26, 2006. She thinks ‘vocation is a mystery, perseverance a greater mystery,’ from her own divine experience.
