Mangaluru, Dec 24: Locals caught a car driver, who tried to escape after colliding his vehicle with that of scooter in which overseas students were riding. The incident occurred at Talapady Devinagara.
South traffic police of the city confiscated car of Kerala registration number and arrested driver Ahmed Mubarish.
On Friday evening, Ahmed was driving his car at high speed from Mangaluru to Kerala. He hit a scooter on the national highway 66 at Kotekar. Due to the impact of the collision the scooter rider Setid Bashang (30) and pillion Ali Sagar (30), were thrown to the road and got injured. While Ali Sagar is discharged after treatment, Bashang is admitted as inpatient at Indiana hospital.
Both rider and pillion are foreign nationals who are studying in Mangalore University and residing at a lodge of Deralakatte.
The driver of the car Ahmed, dropped the girl at Talapady, who was with him in the car and then tried to escape through Devipura inner road. But he was chased in vehicles by locals and waylaid near Devipura Mandekatta and handed him over to the police.
