Mangalore: Congressmen Seek Divine Intervention for State Govt's Ouster

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, May 23: Local Congress activists and leaders offered 108 coconuts as offerings at Goddess Mangaladevi Temple in the city by smashing them to the ground one by one in front of the temple on Sunday May 22. They also offered mass prayer to the Goddess, to accept their offering and ensure that the BJP-led  government in the state crumbles.

“During the last three years, the state government, under the leadership of Yeddyurappa, has misused the funds, got engaged in large scale corruption, and followed anti-democratic policies. It has also been disrespecting the Indian Constitution. For gaining an upper hand in the assembly, it disqualified a number of legislators illegally, by misusing the position of the assembly speaker. The union government should accept the Governor’s report on these developments and dismiss the state government, by imposing President’s rule,” the Congress leaders asserted.

They said they had also prayed to the Goddess for a government which provides people-friendly, transparent and efficient administration, in place of the current one.

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee secretary, Ivan D’Souza, City South Block Congress president, Nagendra Kumar, youth Congress president, Pravinchandra Alva, district secretary, Radhakrishna Urwa, former mayor, Abdul Aziz, and several other leaders were present on the occasion.
