Puttur, May 21: Dakshina Kannada district superintendent of police, Labhu Ram, said that Dr Renuka Prasad, accused in the case relating to the murder of A S Ramakrishna, will be taken into police custody, immediately after he is discharged from the district Wenlock Hospital, Mangalore. He revealed that investigating officer in the case, Dr Rohini Katoch, who is the assistant superintendent of police in Puttur, will be approaching the court with a request for extending the police custody of Dr Prasad.
As Dr Prasad, who was remanded to judicial custody, got admitted into the hospital after complaining of ill health, he could not be interrogated by the policemen. After he was discharged on May 17, the policemen sought his police custody. The court, on May 18, permitted two days police custody of Dr Prasad from May 19 onwards, but the policemen could not execute the same as the accused had again got admitted into the hospital on May 18.
Speaking to reporters during his visit to Rakethswari extension at Manjalpadpu here in connection with the daylight theft in a house there on Friday May 20, Labhu Ram said that underworld criminals were not involved with the murder of A S Ramakrishna, administrative officer of KVG Medical College Sullia.
