Mumbai, Dec 2: Milagres College was established in the year 1967 by an octogenarian Msgr D J D’Souza to impart degree education to the youth of the surrounding villages. Since then the college has been in the forefront in curricular and co-curricular activities.
The college has a history of 56 years and the students who have studied here have spread out across the globe leading a successful career.
To attract the past students towards their alma mater, the college has an active alumni association which is a registered body. Through the alumni association the past students of the college are engaged in conducting very useful programmes and also support the students and the college financially.
The alumni come back to the college in batches and spend time with some fun activities and recall their college days’ nostalgic memories. Recently the B Com batch of 1979 had a beautiful reunion in which 45 out of 75 classmates were present.
Now the Milagres College Alumni Association is geared up to create a history by bringing the alumni residing in Maharashtra for an alumni meet in Thane, Mumbai. Already more than 100 alumni have registered and some more are yet to join. The alumni meet will be held on Sunday, December 4 at Shree Sai NX Banquets, Thane from 11 am to 3 pm under the leadership of Jayaprakah Shetty, Jalaja Charitable Trust, Mumbai and Satyajith Shetty, former Mangalore University volleyball team captain. Alumni president Shekar Gujjarbettu will be presiding over the ceremony and retired teachers Prof Hilda Rodrigues and Prof Mary Mammen will grace the meet as chief guests. As many as 15 alumni members from the local body from Kallianpur are going to participate.
Principal of Milagres College Kallianpur, Dr Vincent Alva has requested all the alumni residing in Maharashtra to be a part of this historical event.
